attended Free Lutheran Bible College where they met in 2020 and were married
shortly after Katy graduated in 2022. Although Katy had felt a call for many
years to serve in the mission field, Zach felt unsure of how the Lord would be
able to use him in ministry.
It wasn’t until they spent time serving on a Vacation Bible School team together,
in the remote villages of Alaska, that Zach came to see the need for missionary
pilots and began to feel the call to be used by God through mission aviation.
After much prayer, Zach and Katy moved their life to Washington for Zach to
begin Pilot training with MATA.
After spending multiple summers serving on the Vacation Bible School team in the Bristol Bay area of Alaska, both Zach
and Katy fell in love with the people and the ministry in remote Alaska. They are praying that God will allow them to
serve there permanently someday, but are also keeping their hearts open to being used wherever God may lead them.
In March of 2024 they welcomed their daughter Patricia, whom they lovingly call Poppy, into the world. Poppy loves
greeting others with her contagious, warm smile. Zach completed his private pilot training and received his license in
July of 2024. He plans to continue on with the rest of his training and receive his A&P (Airframe and Powerplant),
Commercial, and IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) certificates through MATA. (Zach's FAA Certificates: PPL)
