Casey Underwood – Aircraft Maintenance

(Wife Stefanie)

Casey and Stefanie were brought together because of missions. Stefanie knew from a young age that she wanted to serve in missions. She attended Ethnos360 Bible college and later became a registered nurse (RN.) She then began work as a labor and delivery nurse for Providence Hospital to gain experience for service overseas.

From a young age, Casey wanted to be a design engineer and pilot in the U.S. Air Force, but also knew God wanted him to serve in ministry. He served in various ministries at his local church but still felt called further into ministry.

Casey considered serving as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force, but in time it became clear God wasn’t leading him in that direction. In 2018, someone who had attended MATA’s summer camp mentioned Mission Aviation Training Academy. After hearing about the need missionaries had for pilot-mechanics, Casey prayed about serving in this area. In time, God made clear that was what He wanted him to pursue.

Shortly after committing to pursue vocational ministry as a pilot-mechanic, a close friend introduced Casey and Stefanie. They were married in 2020. Casey and Stefanie have since had a son, Ezra. Casey has obtained his Airframe and Powerplant certification and is working as an aircraft mechanic building experience at MATA. Stefanie works in the OBGYB department of the Everett Clinic, giving her a broader scope of experience to use overseas. They plan on completing flight training with MATA over the next 3 years, then transition to training with Ethnos360.
